Student activities
The following is a list of activities that I offer to my students:
-
The Royal Schools Practical Examinations during April/May and November/December
-
The Royal Schools Theory Examinations offered three times a year,
-
The National Guild Spring Auditions in April/May,
-
The Cherokee and North Fulton Music Teachers' Association Spring Auditions during March, followed by
-
The Georgia Auditions for those students who are Winners in their Grade.
-
The Music Festival or a Piano-thon in October/November offered by the Cherokee Music Teachers' Association.
-
Junior and Senior Master Classes offered by the Cherokee and North Fulton Music Teachers’ Association.
My Music Studio Recitals are during May/June and early December.
Students play 2 to 3 solo pieces. Duets for one piano and for two pianos are always included in the Recitals. Piano concerto (1st movement) was one of our Highlights in December 2003. If a sibling or parent plays an instrument I love to introduce them in the program as a duet with the piano or as a solo performance.
-
Depending on the grade level of my students I will offer group classes for the Beginner and Elementary students. My goal here is for students to play to each other and become familiar with performing ethics as well as receiving and giving constructive help from each other. I will also include some music history and theory in the class.
-
Trophies are awarded at the Recitals to students who have successfully passed the Royal Schools Practical and Theory examination.
-
At the May Recital an award is given to a student who has "Most Improved" during the year.
-
I encourage my older students to attend at least 2 Piano Concerts of their choice during the year.
Every student’s requirement and ability is different so I will structure the lessons according to the student’s needs and preferences.
My goal, as a piano teacher, is to create a positive environment where the love of music can flourish. Music should be fun and I love teaching and sharing this gift with others.
I love to teach classical repertoire but also teach other styles of music should the student wish it. What is important is that the student has fun and enjoys practicing.
