My Policy

Fees

Fees are automatically due in advance at the first lesson of each month.

Please make a note whether there are four or five lesson days in the month before writing your check.

Make-up lessons

• If a lesson must be cancelled due to a valid reason, please contact me 24 hours in advance.
• A make-up lesson may be scheduled within the same week of absence depending on the time available and the students need at that particular time, i.e. close to the time of an Audition or a Royal Schools Examination.
• Please be advised that only for valid reasons will I make a lesson up.
• Lessons will not be made up if you do not arrive or call at the last minute to cancel the lesson. You will be responsible for payment for that lesson.

Additional fees

• A $25 deposit is required for me to purchase books for students.
• If the balance remaining during the year is a minus amount I will require a $25 deposit once again.
• You will receive a computer print out of your account every time a transaction is made.
• Festival, Competition and Examination fees may occur when applicable.

Please do not include the above fees with the monthly lesson fees . Thank you.

Holidays and vacation

• I generally teach during School Holidays, but if you are going on vacation please let me know in advance (the month before) and there will be no charge for missed lessons.
• If a holiday occurs at the time of a lesson please call the week before to reschedule the lesson.
• Please note that if you have made arrangements during holidays for your child to have lessons and you do not arrive or call at the last minute to cancel the lesson you will be responsible for payment for that lesson.
• I strongly feel that during the summer months students should continue their lessons so as not to forget what was taught during the year. This is particularly true for younger students or beginners. Some students are able to devote more time to practicing during School holidays. I encourage students to learn pieces of their choice during this time as well as some composition.
• I will let you know in advance of my holidays in which case there will be no payments required.

Termination of lessons

• TWO WEEKS notice is needed if you wish to discontinue lessons.
• If I have a concern regarding the students’ progress I will contact you.
• If on the other hand you need to speak to me for any reason please don’t hesitate to call me. I would appreciate if you called me before the lesson so that we do not use lesson time for this.
